Scope & Content	Color lithograph, "Detroit in 1820." The foreground shows the Canadian shoreline with several people standing, sitting, and playing near the Detroit River. The steamship WALK-IN-THE-WATER is shown sailing down the river, along with several smaller sail boats. The shoreline of Detroit occupies the background. Landmarks on the Detroit shore are indicated underneath the image, from left to right, as follows: Truax House, Merchant's Wharf, Campau House, Roby Wharf, Fort Shelby, Jas. A. Abbott's Warehouse, Wings Wharf, St. Ann's Church, Gov. Hulls Residence, and French Chapel. Text at bottom center reads "Detroit in 1820, From an original sketch made in 1820 by George H. Whistler C.E. / With View of 'Walk-in-the-Water.' / Arrive at Detroit May 20th 1819. Job Fish Commander." Small printed text on the bottom left reads "Entered According to Act of Congress A.D. 1877 by M. A. Tryon in the Office of the Librarian of Congress at Washington, D.C."
