Description | Sepia-toned print of a photograph of the Detroit Fire Department Engine No. 37, on First Street, just south of Congress Street, taken facing the northeast. Smoke rises from its stack. Two men in coats inspect the apparatus' gauges. Hoses extend from the engine off the right edge of frame. Several bystanders watch from in front of a wall painted with a sign for saw manager R.B. Ridgely. Horse-drawn wagons, and a warehouse are visible in the background on the left. "Sep 23 1931" is stamped on the verso, and "reprinted" is handwritten above it. "Congress & First St. c. 1917-18?," is handwritten on the verso. |
