Description Black and white photo of 1979 Ford Mustangs on the assembly line at the Dearborn Assembly Plant. The camera is positioned in the line's pit beneath the passenger's side of the front bumper, peering backward along the line. A caption typewritten on Ford North American Automotive Operations letterhead, taped to the verso, reads:

Immediate Release

A 1979 Ford Mustang makes its way down the line at the company's Dearborn Assembly Plant. The new Mustangs, together with the Mercury Capris produced at the same plant, are products of one of the most expensive and concentrated conversion processes in Dearborn Assembly's history. It will cost Ford Motor Company about $290 million to change all of its North American plants over to 1979-model production.
