Description Sepia-toned photographic print depicting the storefront of T.B. Rayl and Company on Woodward Avenue at Congress Street. In addition to the name of the store, signs are hung reading, "Hardware," "The Detroit Stove Works Depot," "Detroit Tool Depot," "Detroit Stove Depot," and, on a sign projecting out at the building's corner, "Detroit Stove Works, Jewel Stoves." A group of men and boys pose along the front of the store, and peer out from the upstairs windows. Also, along the sidewalk are goods on display including coiled hoses, a push cart, a hand-cranked wringer, baseball bats, a $7 box discounted to $5, a stove, ice buckets, and ice boxes. An American Challenge ordinary bicycle is also displayed in the store window. Around the corner, a boy holding a partially visible wheel sits on the curb, and signs for J.L. Hudson and a garment dye business are posted. "15588" is printed in the bottom left corner.
