Mounted sepia-toned group portrait photograph of twelve members of the Detroit Fire Department's Ladder Company No. 11 posed with their horse-drawn ladder apparatus in front of their fire station on the north side of Milwaukee Street, west of Riopelle Street. Nine of the men stand along the brick-paved street beside the apparatus, while two men are seated at the front and one in the back. 1 photo. Detroit fire dept. ladder no. 11, shows station #11, fireman and horse drawn fire truck, handwritten on back ladder co. 11 4th br. Milwaukee & Riopelle still in existence as of 1974. The photo is mounted on brown mat board. The partial name "E. Johnston," is printed in the lower right corner of the board, although the rest of the mark has worn away. "Ladder Co. 11, 4th br., Milwaukee & Riopelle, still in existence as of 1978," is handwritten on the verso in blue marker. |
