Description | Photograph. Black and white photo showing two men who are attending the "Partners in Progress" dedication ceremony for the two recently completed power interconnections between the Detroit Edison Company and Ontario Hydro. One interconnection was made across the Detroit River between the Detroit Edison Delray electric power plant and the Ontario Hydro J. C. Keith Generating Station in Windsor, Ontario. The other interconnection was made across the St. Clair River between the Detroit Edison Marysville electric power plant and Ontario Hydro transmission lines located just south of Sarnia, Ontario. The ceremony was held on December 18, 1953, at the Marysville power plant. The man on the left side of the photo might be Leslie Frost, Premier of Ontario. The man on the right is G. Mennen Williams, Governor of Michigan. The unveiled "Partners in Progress" monument can be seen in the left background area of the photo and a portion of the Royal Union Flag (Canada) can be seen in the right background. |
