Scope & Content | Postcard bearing a sepia-toned photograph of seven men, predominately uniformed Detroit Fire Department firefighters, posing in and around an Ahrens-Fox fire engine, presumably Engine No. 6, parked outside the bay of the fire station at Hastings Street, and High Street. "D.F.D. 1903," is carved in a pediment above one of the doors in the background. The verso is divided. "E-6 1913 Ahrens-Fox, 700 G.P.M. Preston Pumper. This engine replaced the steam engine which is now [in] the Det. Hist. Mus. Hasting + High St. (Vernor) now the Fisher Freeway." is handwritten on the verso. |
