Description Sepia-toned black and white photo showing a front corner view of the Fireman's Hall. The photo shows a 2-story painted brick building with a short steeple A sign on the front over the second-floor windows shows "1839, Firemen's Hall." The front of the hall faces on Bates Street as indicated by the street sign that can be seen on the side of the building near the corner. The ground floor has three shops and, presumably, the hall was located on the second floor. Shops on the ground floor include: "Chas. R. Brand, House & Sign Painting" and "J. W. Ezekiel, Auction & Commission" and "C. Govin. Merchant Tailor." A typewritten label on the verso shows "First Firemen's Hall, 1939. Larned St. East between Bates St. and Woodward." An ink stamp on the verso shows "Photograph by The Detroit News, Not to be Published."
